Florida’s Toxic Algae Crisis: Lee Health Outlines Response Plan. “Lee Health outlined a multipronged response to the region’s ongoing water crisis at its Thursday board meeting's water quality workshop. The system will use its institutional muscle to gather data and teach patients about the potential health effects of red tide and blue-green algae (cyanobacteria), which have plagued the region for more than a year, said Dr. Mary Beth Saunders, Lee’s director of epidemiology. She outlined how the system has dealt with the toxic blooms over the last six months and detailed its plans going forward.” [News-Press, 1/17/19 (=)]
