Hello, sharing these resources from MoveOn on the shutdown! As detailed below, the play is to up the pressure on vulnerable Senate Republicans to end the shutdown. Please keep an eye on this page for shutdown events in target states being pulled together as early as this weekend and consider attending and driving turnout, posting on social, and engaging with the rest of MoveOn’s resources!

Subject: [Big Table] Shutdown events and activities

Hi All -

We're officially in the longest government shutdown in history. This is affecting not only the 800,000 government workers and their families not being paid, but communities across the country. From tax returns likely being delayed, to federal home loans put on hold, to food inspections being stopped, Donald Trump holding the government hostage for his hateful and wasteful wall affects all of us.

That is why we need everyone to demand the government reopen without a penny for Trump's border wall.

Our strategy is to focus on putting pressure vulnerable Republicans which will make them pressure Sen. McConnell to bring the House passed funding bills up for a vote, and to override a presidential veto if necessary.

Here is how to get involved:

· Sign up to host or recruit your members to join rallies at Republican Senate offices from 1/21-25 at https://moveon.org/trumpshutdownevents

o Note: Hosts are being recruited now, so events will be posted by next week. We're also only accepting events focused on Senators or Trump.

· Mark your calendar for a national day of action on 1/29, when Trump could be giving the State of the Union address. We'll be protesting that day as long as we're still in a shutdown, even if the speech is moved.

· Grab some RTs on Twitter right now:

o United We Dream

o Rep. Ocasio-Cortez

o AFL-CIO

o MoveOn

· Use this google folder of graphics to create your own social media posts

· Do a call alert to your members to call Senate Republicans and demand they ask Sen. McConnell to call a vote to fund the government without Trump's hateful wall. Call in numbers and example text available.

· Launching tomorrow or Monday: Rage text your Senator. Details coming soon!

· More resources below compiled by the Immigration Hub.

Please reply to me with questions or to get more resources for any of these actions. thanks for all the work you are doing.
