Climate change has reemerged as a top priority on Capitol Hill — and the conversation has matured from

In recent months, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have introduced legislation to address the climate crisis, including two bipartisan carbon pricing bills, a comprehensive clean energy standard and an array of competing proposals. Meanwhile, climate action
has joined healthcare and immigration as a leading issue for voters in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

New York Times reporter Lisa Friedman will moderate a conversation with
Rep. Francis Rooney (R-FL), sponsor of the Stemming Warming and Augmenting Pay Act (H.R. 4058), and
Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY), Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change.
The conversation will be followed by a panel of energy and climate experts that will examine the best opportunities to drive innovation and make the necessary investments to achieve a net-zero
future. Distinguished panelists will explore the potential and limits of carbon pricing to rapidly curb emissions, tax incentives to spur funding for climate-smart infrastructure and transportation and much more.
