Been a while, folks, but now that the Senate is in a position to bring its own Energy & Water appropriations bill to the floor, we are reviving this letter.

A link to the letter, and form to sign on, are still here.

It’s currently looking like appropriations isn’t first up for next week, so there’s likely a bit of time – the (initial) deadline for this letter is 5 PM EST Wednesday, September 25th.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions,

Hi once again folks,

As you may have already heard, the House Rules committee has not ruled a Yucca amendment in order for the appropriations minibus containing Energy & Water. This means that we probably won’t see a Yucca vote in the next few weeks, which further means that the deadline for this letter is now more open-ended. There’s still a decent chance we could see a Yucca vote in either the House or the Senate this year or this Congress, so signatures are still very much important.

Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions,

Subject: [SIGN-ON] Yucca opposition letter

Hello again folks,

As we continue to face the congressional threat of legislation or appropriations supporting the problematic (to put it lightly) Yucca nuclear waste repository, we’ve put together a new general letter pointing out the broad problems with legislation supporting the project and reasons why members of Congress should not support it. This letter would be used both in the context of appropriations and general legislation.

A link to the letter, and form to sign on, are available here.

Given that the Energy & Water appropriations bill should be on the House floor next week, the initial deadline to sign on will be 5 PM EST Tuesday the 11th. This way, if there does end up being a Yucca vote next week this letter will be ready. After that we will continue to hold the letter open, however – that’s merely the first deadline.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns,
