We have extended the sign-on deadline for this Grand Canyon Centennial Protection Act sign-on letter until COB today. This is a letter urging support for H.R. 1373, the Grand Canyon Centennial Protection Act. It is currently scheduled to be on the floor of the House the week of October 28th (next week), and the final letter will be sent up shortly before the vote.

H.R. 1373 would protect approximately one million acres of public lands around Grand Canyon National Park through making permanent the current 20-year administrative mineral withdrawal, which protects the watershed from new mining. Tribal entities —including members of the Havasupai, Hualapai, and Hopi Tribes, and Navajo Nation — have been fighting mining in this area for generations. In 2017, the National Congress of American Indians passed standing resolution “Opposing the Reversal of Mineral Withdrawals that Would Adversely Impact Tribal Lands, Waters, Resources, or Native People.” The Grand Canyon Centennial Protection Act is consistent with that standing resolution.

We encourage you to sign this letter that will support legislation that benefits tribal and mining-affected communities, natural ecosystems and wildlife, and the thriving outdoor economy of the area.

We hope your organization will join the letter before COB, Today (10/25). Please use this form to sign-on. The current signers are listed below.

Thanks,

Blaine
