At almost 17 million acres, the Tongass is the crown jewel of America's National Forest System. This stunning landscape provides a critical habitat for wildlife like grizzlies and salmon,
clean drinking water for local communities, and world-class recreational opportunities. It also stores more carbon than any other National Forest, making it one of the best tools at our disposal to combat climate change. Nevertheless, the Trump administration
is seeking to open up 9.3 million acres of the Tongass to clear-cut logging and road building by exempting the state of Alaska from the Roadless Rule, which limits these damaging activities in the Tongass and forests across the country.
Please join us for a reception featuring Members of Congress, tribal representatives, community leaders,
and policy experts who have championed protection of the Roadless Rule and are working tirelessly to ensure that Tongass National Forest is protected for future generations. |
