Hi folks – McConnell just filed cloture on Skipwith’s nomination, likely setting up a confirmation vote next week. This is a reminder to please sign your organization on to this letter of opposition:

We are reopening this letter as some groups have expressed recent interest in signing on. As an update, Skipwith was narrowly confirmed out of Committee in September, with all EPW Democrats opposing her confirmation. Sen. Carper was particularly frustrated at her failure to candidly disclose her possible conflicts during her testimony.

Since she began her work within the Trump Administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish, Wildlife and Parks in 2017, Ms. Skipwith has been involved in efforts to weaken the Endangered Species Act's regulations and strip protections from our nation's most vulnerable species, including the grizzly bear, American burying beetle, Mexican wolf, and dunes sagebrush lizard. She was also involved in an effort by DOI Secretarial politicals to greenlight mountaintop-removal-mining in Appalachia while overruling the career FWS scientists trying to protect two endangered crayfish. That story is here.

Thanks in advance,
