This is just a reminder to consider signing the attached letter, urging Bernhardt to reject calls to grant the oil and gas industry royalty relief. However, since there was no noise out of the Administration on this following Trump’s meeting
with Big Oil on Friday, we are extending the deadline to sign to CoB Wednesday. Please fill out the Google Form

Republicans in both houses of Congress have sent letters to Interior Secretary Bernhardt urging him to grant royalty relief to oil, gas, and coal operators producing on federal public lands. It’s a bad idea on its face. Such a bailout would
put corporate profits about the emergency response required to mitigate the crisis that is the COVID-19 pandemic, deprive state and federal treasuries of funds they desperately need right now, and lock in dirty energy extraction, without providing relief to
workers or communities.
I also need to flag that we’ve just added a line opposing other, similar actions in response to numerous requests, which is, “Nor should your department be holding lease sales, limiting public comment periods, or granting
coal producers royalty relief,” at the end of the penultimate paragraph. You can see it reflected in redline in the attached. I’m sorry if this late edit will keep you off the letter or create additional work. Please email me if you’ve signed on and need to
be taken off.
