Please join Oxfam America, in partnership with the Urban League, Mississippi NAACP, and the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation for a webinar on Monday, April 20th from 3:00-4:30 pm EST:
COVID’s Disproportionate Impact on Black Communities: Coronavirus and the Deep South
The disproportionate impact of coronavirus on Black communities in the Deep South has been deeply unsettling. In Louisiana, with one of the worst rates of infection in the United States, 70% of COVID related
deaths are identified as African American. In Mississippi, with the highest rate of hospitalization in the South, multiple reports have pointed to community underlying health conditions as a reason for this susceptibility. This webinar seeks to shine a light
on these inequities through the voice of multiple community leaders. Please join us for a conversation on race, public health, and necessary structural and policy change.
