Hi CDP,Please consider signing your organization to this letter from the Gwich'in Steering Committee and allied groups that will be sent to Bank of America and six other U.S. banks to urge them not to finance Arctic drilling. Sign-on deadline is this Friday, May 15.Letter: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdhOe0PWQlHU8dajwHRd-ZJHxEq7Vb3r7Ko776zENcoi4vAkw/viewformAs you may have heard, a growing list of major banks has ruled out providing any funding for drilling in the Arctic — including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which is sacred and integral to the way of life of the Gwich'in people. Five of the six largest U.S. banks have taken action on this in recent months, and Bank of America is the only one of the big six US banks that has failed to take action thus far.
This is also an important political moment for the fight, as GOP politicians and Donald Trump have been pushing back against the banks who've ruled out financing for fossil fuel projects — so it's important to show our support for these key announcements
Please let Anna Peterson at anna@conservationcommunications.org know if you have any questions. Thanks!

PNC Bank
Capital One
BNY Mellon
Charles Schwab
The case for protecting this sacred land is so clear that we have already seen other major U.S. financial institutions like Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo, in addition to more than a dozen global banks, announce they will not fund any new oil and gas development across the Arctic region. These banks recognize the risks and the reputational consequences should they support the violation of such an important landscape and indigenous peoples’ human rights.
Drilling in a place as remote and pristine as the Arctic isn’t cheap, and by joining this letter and over 70% of voters who oppose drilling, you have an opportunity to join in solidarity with the Gwich'in Nation to urge U.S. banks to take a stand by agreeing not to finance fossil fuel development in the Arctic.
