Hello all,
Today is Juneteenth, and we’re sharing our latest video:
“We Can’t Breathe”
Juneteenth was the day a group of enslaved people in Texas found out they were “free” by law. They had been enslaved over two years after Lincoln signed the
Emancipation Proclamation. But on this day in 1865, those Black people were given the smallest bit of space to resist white supremacy. It was a bigger space than they’d known the day before.
But it was not a clean victory. It wasn’t freedom. It wasn’t the recognition of full humanity. It was the beginning of a long fight for both.
We use Juneteenth to reflect on how far we’ve come from that day in 1865. But the spirit of Juneteenth is in the fight ahead; a celebration of the pursuit of
freedom, a sobering look at the injustice we face today, and an honest call to action: how will each one of us do our part to create space for Black resistance?
Our latest video,
“We Can’t Breathe,” will move crucial audiences to create that space, and carry this fight forward. Below is sample social copy to share the video on your platforms. Any help amplifying is greatly appreciated.

@realDonaldTrump: My administration has done more for the Black community than any President since Abraham Lincoln. #Juneteenth
Reality:
When he was running for president, @realDonaldTrump asked Black Americans what they had to lose by voting for him. The answer was as painfully clear then
as it is now. #Juneteenth
