Laura,
Thank you for raising these important points. It is not the intention of this campaign to support the provisions in the GREEN Act related to garbage incinerators and biomass power plants. This should have been caught before the website
went live, and the campaign is updating the site to make clear the points you raise so powerfully below.

Subject: RE: [cdp] Coalition for Clean Energy and Healthy Communities is launched
Lauren:
Thank you for sharing this information, which is more detailed than the sign-on letter that I reviewed and provided feedback to CAC about.
I am disappointed that a coalition that purports to support “clean energy and healthy communities” is calling on Congress to “extend and update the ITC, PTC, EV tax credit, and
other credits as proposed in the GREEN Act” without qualification.
By now everyone should be aware that Black and brown communities are suffering disproportionately from a range of issues from police brutality to poor air quality.
It is unconscionable to say you support “clean energy and healthy communities” yet advocate for policies that will extend production tax credits for highly-polluting renewable
energy technologies like garbage incinerators and biomass power plants, which are disproportionately sited in low-income communities of color and add to the pollution burden in these communities.
As a point of information, Congress extended the PTC for biomass and garbage incinerators in last year’s budget, and the House Ways & Means Committee’s Moving Forward Act would
extend them again through 2025.
I ask you AGAIN to add a sentence to your policy platform expressly rejecting clean energy incentives for these polluting technologies and help lift up those of us who are fighting
these bad policies and proposals, including the frontline communities you profess to support.
Thank you.
