A bit more info: the buck was found near Dos Lomitas, east of the Lukeville POE. This is an area where deer often cross south into Mexico during the hottest months of the year to access water and forage in the alfalfa fields east of Sonoyta,
Sonora. This was likely a vehicle strike, as the deer wandered back and forth along the wall looking for a way to cross. A number of deer have been spotted in this same area this week. I’m sure an untold number of wildlife have met a similar fate.
