Message of the Week: September 8, 2020
-
Last week, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler said the Trump administration would focus on
“community-driven environmentalism” that would promote environmental justice.
-
Despite his rhetoric, Wheeler has no real plan to tackle poor air quality, extreme weather events fueled by climate change, or the climate crisis -- which all disproportionately harm Black Americans and communities of color.
-
Trump and EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler have proven that they are more interested in supporting corporations and big polluters. They’re continuing to undermine science, ignore scientists, and roll back existing safeguards that
protect our health and economy, and combat climate change -- all to benefit big polluters. Since taking over EPA, the policies Wheeler has pushed are more like “corporate-profit driven anti-environmentalism.”
-
It’s clear we need bold leadership in Congress and the White House to accelerate our transition to 100% clean energy so we can begin to address the climate crisis and provide a healthier future,
free of pollution, for generations to come.
Reorient Target Messaging
-
[Senator] needs to hold Trump and EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler accountable for their anti-environmental agenda and have a plan to address all threats to public health, including the coronavirus and the climate crisis.
-
We need bold solutions to address both the coronavirus pandemic and the climate crisis to protect people and communities.
Renew Target Messaging
-
As Trump and EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler continue to attack public health safeguards, we need [Senator] to take action and have a plan to help protect our health and environment, enhance job creation and the economy, correct inequities linked to environmental
injustices and health disparities, and mitigate the worst impacts of climate change.
Energize Target Messaging
-
Donald Trump and EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler are taking aggressive steps to worsen our air quality amid this global public health crisis. We commend [Representative] for moving swiftly to address this crisis and for understanding
that science matters in developing public policies that protect our health and environment.
-
The coronavirus public health crisis demands strong leadership and bold action to stabilize the economy and protect people from the worst impacts of climate change. We commend [Representative] for moving swiftly to address this crisis
and for understanding that science matters in developing public policies that protect our health and environment.
