Hi CDP friends,

An update that we're up to 45 groups here, and are still taking sign-ons through EOD tomorrow. So please sign on if you'd like to join but didn't yet have a chance!

Sign-on form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdqneoBbyWYvvADqRuHT9JRM9DcrGMvnDzNkxlJuBi5yIVDyw/viewform

We'll loop back if the amendment outcomes drastically change the picture, but for now it remains critical to show broad opposition to the more than billions of dollars this bill would give to the fossil fuel industry (outlined primarily in Title III of the bill).

Please sign on here by tomorrow if you're able, and please spread to others who may be interested in signing on. Happy to talk if folks have questions.

Thanks,
Collin

We all see the headlines about fires in the western US and hurricanes in the gulf coast, which are just the most recent fossil fuel fired climate disasters bearing down on the United States. Instead of addressing the climate crisis head on, the House Democratic Leadership is fast-tracking Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act (HR 4447), which is filled with giveaways for fossil fuel companies.

While it has some support for distributed renewable energy production and environmental justice provisions, it is fundamentally and fatally flawed by promoting carbon capture sequestration (CCS) and other false climate solutions that perpetuate our dependence on fossil fuels and burden frontline and communities of color. On the whole, this package would lock in continued extracting, processing, and burning of fossil fuels for decades to come.

Please join us in opposing this legislation and standing up against false solutions like CCS: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdqneoBbyWYvvADqRuHT9JRM9DcrGMvnDzNkxlJuBi5yIVDyw/viewform?usp=sf_link
