Protect Democracy | Top Three Actions You Can Take

Critical opportunities to support our allies and a healthy democracy over the coming weeks

As we saw in the past election, our community plays a critical role in connecting our issues with the need for a healthy democracy. Public interest in our democracy has never been greater, and we have the political power to deliver large-scale reform. Now is the time. We must stand with our allies to meet the moment.

Here are the top three actions your organization can take over the next week to protect our democracy (listed in calendar order).

This Thursday, reserve space on your social media calendar to amplify highlights from the House Subcommittee on Elections of the Committee on House Administration hearing entitled Voting in America: The Potential for Voter List Purges to Interfere with Free and Fair Access to the Ballot. CDP will monitor the hearing and share the highlights on Thursday.
Promote the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (and other pro-democracy initiatives) by supporting the May 8th Day of Action. You can endorse the day of action and use our community toolkit to start spreading the word.
Reserve space on your social media calendar for the Senate Rules Committee markup of the bill on May 11.
