Hi everyone,

Confirm Climate Weekly Update – May 24, 2021

Ahead of Memorial Day weekend, here’s the latest with all things Confirm Climate:

Climate Cabinet Pushing AJP – Confirmed Confirm Climate nominees continued to push strongly for the American Jobs Plan and investments in our nation’s growing clean energy sector. On MSNBC, EPA Administrator Michael Regan discussed the United States’ transition to zero-pollution and electric vehicles. In testimony before the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said that the AJP will help us make “breakthroughs [that will] drive clean energy and our future.” (CAC Rapid Response: 5.19.21 DOE Budget Hearing Social)

On the Hill – Last week, Confirm Climate nominees Dr. Rick Spinrad and Carlos Monje had their confirmation hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. Pending Senate confirmation, Spinrad will lead the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Monje will serve as Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy at the Department of Transportation. Both are extremely well-qualified individuals who will help implement President Biden’s bold vision to address climate change and invest in communities across the country.
