No more empty promises without action plans. Real action. Starting right now.

Hi all,

We hope you and your organization will join us in a global collective day of action on October 29 to call for REAL ACTION by the world’s leaders on climate change.  See more details and materials below and please be in touch if you have questions or suggestions for participation.

We are aiming for a chorus of voices all calling for climate action ahead of COP.

Thanks for your help to amplify this day.

For years, we’ve heard scientists sound the alarm on climate. And for years, we’ve watched world leaders politely nod their heads – and fail to act.

This year is different.

With our window to prevent disastrous warming closing by the day and leaders heading to the UN’s COP 26 climate conference in November, we’re speaking up with a global day of action on October 29 demanding real action on climate.

No more empty promises without action plans. No more half-baked carbon offsets that keep fossil fuels going. Real action. Starting right now.

Real action at COP 26 and beyond means:

  1. Concrete plans for actual and immediate reductions of greenhouse gas emissions: Emissions reductions must be the priority, not a reliance on offsets, which too often prove to be smoke and mirrors.
  2. A just transition from coal and gas to clean energy: In a world with other cost-effective, clean, renewable energy there is simply no place for fossil fuels. This means moving from extractive economies to clean energy while investing big in frontline communities and developing truly inclusive workforces. Our fight for solutions cannot replicate the inequities of the past.
  3. Restorative justice in financing solutions: The nations responsible for the climate crisis have to own up to the damage they’ve done. This means honoring commitments now and financing adaptation and zero-carbon development in impacted nations in the years ahead.

How can you participate on October 29?

As an important partner of The Climate Reality Project and a key voice in this movement, we hope that you’ll help spread the word to your members. Let them know about the day of action and encourage them to participate.

  • Before October 29, share posts about the day of action and link to 24hoursofreality.org with the hashtag #LetsGetReal. Encourage your members and supporters to take part and let them know you’ll be joining in the call for real action. Download images from our Social Media Toolkit!
  • On October 29, post about the need for real climate action using the hashtag #LetsGetReal. We’ll be sharing sample posts and graphics in the week leading up to the event at 24hoursofreality.org.
  • On October 29, consider recording and posting a short video speaking about why we need real action NOW with the hashtag #LetsGetReal. We’re building a chorus of voices demanding real change – and your followers are much more likely to join us when you speak from the heart about this issue. Climate Reality can help with talking points or tips if you’re interested in recording a video.

We hope you will join us in demanding real action on climate during this critical moment. Together we can raise our voices and the expectations of global leaders. Join us!
