Today, NOAA, NASA, and USGS released a new report finding that sea level will rise 10-12 inches along US coastlines by 2050, meaning an increased risk of flooding, erosion, and damage to infrastructure in coastal communities nationwide. According to William Sweet, oceanographer at NOAA’s National Ocean Service, “There will be water in the streets unless action is taken in more and more communities.”

Please help use this report with the toolkit attached to raise awareness of the cost of inaction on climate change and the need to pass the climate, energy, and justice provisions in the Build Back Better Act. In particular, the coastal restoration funding in the bill will help protect communities against coastal flooding and sea level rise while creating jobs and enhancing habitat for fish and wildlife.
