Thanks to all who put this together. It’s very helpful. I agree with Erik’s point about mentioning other types of dirty energy infrastructure. At the same time, I’m also curious if there is an opportunity to mention the Manchin outline – which includes forced permitting of the Mountain Valley Pipeline while the API language does not. I think there is room for both.
Thanks for considering,
amy

Hi Erik,
Agreed! As you'll see in the top section of the toolkit, we've listed some options for organizations to use in their branding. While CDP has opted for "Dirty Pipeline Deal," we think the most important thing that everyone can do right now is to shift away from industry's branding of this as being about "permitting reform" and to oppose such a deal moving forward.
Thanks,
Erin

Thanks, Erin. Re: a “dirty pipeline deal,” and acknowledging the Mountain Valley Pipeline dynamic as well as need to coalesce around a single, simple characterization of the deal, a tad concerned that this understates the implications of the legislative ideas on the table given they extend well beyond pipelines. Is there an opportunity for more expansive frame that could maximize its use in coalitions dealing with issues other than pipelines?
Best,
Erik

Hi all,
The Combined Defense Project is sharing a high-level messaging and social toolkit on the dirty pipeline deal. We crafted this guidance to help organizations loudly oppose this side deal now and to shift away from industry's framing of this as "permitting reform."
