Dear all,

Please join us in signing on to a letter to the Biden Administration urging them to avoid blocking progress on Loss & Damage at COP27, and work constructively towards the establishment of a Loss & Damage Financing Facility. The sign-on is open to US-based organizations with a deadline of October 12. https://bit.ly/ld-signon

As you may know, the US is a primary blocker in the L&D negotiations, even as loss & damage from climate impacts intensifies and demands from both civil society and developing countries have ramped up dramatically in the past year or two. At Climate Week, John Kerry gave a dismissive answer to a question about the U.S. approach to L&D, dodging the substance of the question entirely. It’s clear that the administration needs to feel more pressure from U.S. orgs and constituents on this issue, and this letter is one of several initiatives that many of us are engaged in during the lead-up to COP27 to that end.

Please sign by COB Wednesday, October 12 and share widely! https://bit.ly/ld-signon The original signers of the letter are ActionAid USA, Corporate Accountability, Friends of the Earth US, Oxfam America, Sierra Club, Taproot Earth, Union of Concerned Scientists, and the Women’s Environment and Development Organization. The full list of signatories will be updated regular in the letter text.
