Good Afternoon All,

What a few days! First, a huge, huge thank you to everyone for all of the amazing work, organizing, and outreach over the last few weeks (and since the summer)! This has been a long, difficult fight, but as yesterday’s news proves, our efforts are working. Senator Manchin’s dirty deal failed to get into the base text of the NDAA thanks to all of you.

However, and of course, we don’t have much time to celebrate – Senator Manchin announced his intention to get a vote on including his bill as an amendment to the NDAA next week. If that fails, there is still the threat of the appropriations package, so we aren’t quite done. We will be convening another call tomorrow morning at 10:30 am to talk next steps. Also, please have your organizations send out thanks over social media to the following champs who were vocal in opposing the dirty deal. We really need these members to know we see their support and have their back. The list below includes the members who signed Senator Merkley’s letter as well as those members who signed Chair Grijalva’s letters who were public about their opposition the last few days. Please feel free to add to the list, if I am missing anyone.
