On December 8, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (the Fed) released its proposed climate-related supervisory guidance to help financial institutions manage financial risks posed by the climate crisis. The Fed is accepting comments through February 6th. Public Citizen and Americans for Financial Reform are hosting a 2-part webinar series to assist groups in understanding the guidance and planning for your engagement. Details below!

• Session 1: Thursday, Jan 12 from 12-1pmET
• Join us for banking supervision 101 and explore the Fed’s climate guidance and opportunities to weigh in. If you’re new to the world of climate financial regulation and want to learn more about its role in mitigating the climate crisis, this webinar will provide helpful background. Speakers include Sarah Dougherty of NRDC and Anne Perrault of Public Citizen.

• Session 2: [Week of 1/16. Date & Time TBD]
• This session takes a deeper dive into policies that need more detailed guidance, including holding banks to their net zero commitments, fair lending, bluelining, green lending, and supporting smaller institutions. Speaker line-up and registration info to come!

Additionally, Public Citizen put together a grassroots partner toolkit that includes information on how to submit comments, a topline summary of the guidance, and a sample grassroots comment. Once finalized, I’ll add Public Citizen’s full summary and coalition sign-on comment.
