Subject: [SIGN ON] Deadline Wednesday 3/8, 4 pm ET -- opposition letter to H.R. 1158 chemical safety rollback
[apologies for cross posting]
On Thursday, March 9, the House Energy & Commerce Committee will mark up
H.R. 1158, which guts a key provision of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) -- the nation's bedrock chemical safety law. The bill would allow
potentially toxic chemicals onto the market before EPA evaluates a chemical's risks. It would also require costs and benefits to be weighed during the risk evaluation, a practice which stymied progress under the old TSCA before it was strengthened in a bipartisan
fashion in 2016. A chemical is either safe or it's not. Republicans plan to include this bill in their massive energy and "permitting reform" package.
Please consider joining
this letter before 4pm ET tomorrow (Wednesday, 3/8).
Thank you!
