Yesterday, the Honolulu Star Advisor published an op-ed titled, “Protect environment, culture, Pacific Remote Islands.” The op-ed highlights how the designation of the Pacific Remote Islands as a national marine sanctuary–the proposed area totaling 777,000 square miles—will help safeguard some of the most diverse and remarkable tropical marine ecosystems on Earth. Importantly, the piece dispels common misinformation on the economic impact of this proposed sanctuary.
