From May 16, 2023 through May 22, 2023, VineSight found the following activity that contained misinformation or toxic narratives related to the environment:
3,000 tweets with more than 10 retweets.
600 Facebook posts with more than 10 engagements.
600 Telegram posts with more than 1,000 views.
70 Truth Social posts with more than 10 retruths.
40 Gab posts with more than 10 reposts.
Approximately 100 percent of the people exposed to misinformation or toxic narratives related to the environment on Twitter were exposed to one of the following themes:
Trudeau's Carbon Tax is Costing Canadians Big Time;
Funding for US Climate Policy is Fueling National Debt;;
US Climate Policy is Undermined by China’s Emissions;
John Kerry's Climate Envoy Office Has 45 Staff
These narratives were also the focus of almost 30 percent of the Facebook engagements, as well as approximately 20 percent of Telegram views, five percent of Truth Social retruths and 30 percent of Gab reposts.
PLEASE NOTE: Emerging narrative around agriculture. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry's recent remarks that "agriculture [has to be] front and center as part of the solution" to the climate crisis is being taken out of context and presented as an attack on farmers and a threat to America's food supply. This narrative has been picked up by Tom Fitton, Sheldon Roth, Representative Massie, and The Gateway Pundit.
