Today, the Lung Association released “Driving to Clean Air: Health Benefits of Zero-Emission Cars and Electricity.” The new report finds that by achieving 100% new zero-emission passenger vehicle sales and clean, non-combustion electricity generation by 2035, the nation could see enormous benefits:

 

-$978 billion in public health benefits

-89,300 fewer premature deaths

-2.2 million fewer asthma attacks

-10.7 million fewer lost workdays

(These are national, cumulative benefits by 2050.)

 

The report also includes state-by-state benefits and policy recommendations. We’re also urging everyone to take action in support of the transition to zero-emission vehicles nationwide.
