Hi Fellow Advocates,
Evergreen Action and the Center for American Progress have co-written a comment letter to EPA regarding its power plant carbon standards and is seeking broad sign-on. EPA’s recent proposal has the makings of a strong standard, but there are a few specific elements of the rule that must be strengthened before it is finalized early next year. Specifically, we would like to see the agency strengthen its proposal in five key ways:
1. Expand the scope of existing gas plants covered by the rule
2. Accelerate and strengthen compliance timelines
3. Increase the stringency of the standards for new gas plants
4. Enforce strict definitions of clean hydrogen and clearly delineate its role
5. Require comprehensive analysis and full implementation in state plans
You can find the text of the letter here.
This is a critical opportunity to let EPA know that their proposal must be strengthened in these key ways before it’s finalized.. . Thank you and as always please do not hesitate to reach out with any thoughts or questions.
Best,
Hannah
