Dear all,

The Biden administration has proposed draft Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations for the Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service that revise and eliminate some of the harmful rules put in place by the Trump administration in 2019, which undermined and weakened the ESA. Disappointingly, these proposed revisions also leave harmful portions of the Trump regulations in place and more must be done to get us back to a fully restored ESA. Please join us on this comment letter to urge swift finalization of the positive parts of the draft rules, and to push for additional changes in the final rules that fully restore the ESA and reverse the harm done by the Trump administration.

The letter text and sign on form are available here: https://forms.gle/nsasZdk4fodBFsi99

Please note that we also expect to circulate a longer, technical comment letter, but there will likely be a short window for sign on. We urge every group able to sign this brief, topline letter, and then (if you can) to join the technical comment letter as well when it circulates next week. Many groups are also doing action alerts to increase the number of comments. If you are interested in doing an action alert but need support, let me know (ahaughey@earthjustice.org).

The sign on deadline is noon eastern on Monday, August 21. The letter will be submitted via Regulations.gov on the 21st.
