CDP friends,

For those who may be interested, I wanted to make you aware of a stakeholder discussion taking place next Monday August 14th at 4pm EST with White House reps from OMB, OSTP and CEQ on recent guidance issued around valuing natural capital in economic decision-making. Below are the details of that discussion:

Discussion on White House/OMB Guidance on Accounting for Environmental/Ecosystem Services in Benefit-Cost Analysis

Please join representatives from the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Council on Environmental Quality for a presentation and stakeholder discussion on the recently released Proposed Guidance for Assessing Changes in Environmental and Ecosystem Services in Benefit-Cost Analysis.

Following a presentation by the White House offices on the proposed guidance, there will also be a brief presentation by Steve Polasky, Professor of Ecological/Environmental Economics at the University of Minnesota and one of the leaders of the Natural Capital Project.

We will then have about 30 minutes of Q&A where participating stakeholders will have an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback.

If you or your colleagues are interested in taking part in this discussion, please email me, and I can add you to the invitation. If you also have questions you know you would like to have addressed, feel free to email those to me as well so that I might provide them in advance.

Also note that the comment period on the proposed guidance is open in the Federal Register until September 18th, for those groups that may want to weigh in formally.

Thanks,

Will
