Hi Green-Democracy Table groups,

Here is a link to the Dollars vs. Democracy 2023: Inside the Fossil Fuel Industry’s Playbook to Suppress Protest and Dissent in the United States.

Andres Chang, Senior Research Specialist at Greenpeace USA will be presenting the report at our Friday, Nov. 3, 11 am meeting and will be part of the Nov. 8 community presentation that Philip just shared. Please register for the Nov. 8 community presentation and share the below invitation with your staff.

Pipelines, Corporate Payments, and Protected Speech: 1 Year Until the Election. How the fossil fuel industry threatens our right to climate justice.

When: Wednesday, November 8th at 3 pm ET

Registration Link: https://nwf-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEvceyprzouEt3cX3E0ASnNCaMTffkkKn50

Description:

Our ability to fight for a livable planet is under attack. The playbook for ensuring climate inaction includes climate disinformation, voter suppression, criminalizing protest, and silencing dissent.

In this community presentation, researchers from Greenpeace USA and the Global Climate Justice Center will discuss key findings from their reports on the fossil fuel industry's assault on voting rights and the right to protest and voice dissent.

Andres Chang, Senior Research Specialist at Greenpeace USA will share their new report, “Dollars vs. Democracy 2023: Inside the Fossil Fuel Industry’s Playbook to Suppress Protest and Dissent in the United States.”

Dr. Daniel Faber will present the Center’s latest report: Voter Suppression, Climate Justice, and the Polluter Industrial Complex, which shows how the funders of voter suppression legislation have the most to gain from silencing the voice of the people who care most about climate justice.

Big Oil knows that the biggest threat to its survival is an empowered public that can stand up to the industry's abuses through protest, free speech, and the ballot box. Join this discussion on how we can use the information in these reports in 2024 to empower our organizations, activists, and our communities to fight for our democracy and a livable planet.
