This morning, grassroots movement leaders staged an action in front of the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) demanding Secretary Jennifer Granholm walk her talk at the onset of DoE’s so-called Justice Week.

Despite touting environmental justice as a priority, Granholm’s department continues to advance new, mega-polluting LNG export terminals in predominantly BIPOC environmental justice communities, especially in the Gulf Coast. These terminals
would enable the US to export mass quantities of fracked gas to other countries, adding catastrophic fuel to the flames of the climate emergency. And under her watch, the Department has also been a mouthpiece for the fossil fuel industry pushing false solutions
like hydrogen and carbon capture & storage – survival strategies for Big Oil & Gas that don’t work and continue to sacrifice frontline communities to new toxic pollution.
