I hope to close the joint statement at 2 pm eastern today. Last call for any questions or concerns, or to let me know if you need more time to consider the statement.

Thanks to everyone for responding so quickly and for your flexibility in coordinating this action across so many organizations.

Subject: [Closing Today + Update] Joint Statement | House Interior-Environment Bill (Part 2)
To: <cdp@lists.partnershipproject.org>

This update is on timing. Please read the entire email.

We'd like to place this statement in the initial reactions to the House passing this bill. To be timely, our comms team advises sending it to our reporter list this afternoon.

I'd like to close the statement today by 2 pm Eastern so we can issue this statement around 3 pm. We will post it online and will highlight it in our social media day of action tomorrow (Friday)

Please note: This approach means we have to make some slight edits to make this statement about the expected vote as opposed to the final vote.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, or if you need more time to join the statement.

Thanks again for your flexibility in coordinating this action.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback on this statement. Given that we are coordinating nearly 60 groups to sign this statement, we had to make a few slight changes that I wanted to bring to your attention (all of these are in tracked changes so you can see them):
  • We received multiple emails about remaining neutral on this statement. To accommodate this request, so we can have as many signers as possible, we removed the references to Republican-led House to just House.
  • We also added language in the body of the email to highlight the poison pill riders.
  • A few groups who were not on the letter wanted to be added to the statement (thank you)!
As a reminder, we are trying to keep the statement as close as possible to the language in the letter to help groups with a tight approval turnaround.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns.

I hope this message finds you well. As promised, here is the draft joint statement on the House Interior-Environment bill for this week. We modified our usual approach to maximize the groups on this statement and to alleviate the pressure of a quick turnaround time for endorsing it. Instead, we decided to re-purpose this recent letter that 58 of our organizations signed. The quotes were pulled directly from the letter (except for a few tweaks to the third paragraph that remove the reference to the debt ceiling deal) which already went through your approval process.

What now?
  • If you're good with the statement: No action needed. We'll share it on the listserve and highlight it during Friday's social media day of action.
  • If you'd like to opt-out: Just drop me an email, and I'll make sure to remove you.
  • To add your organization: Send me a note, and we'll get you on board.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks in advance for your help.
