Hi folks,

As many of you have heard, House Republicans plan to bring a bill up next week to repeal both the Methane Emissions Reduction Program (MERP) and the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.

Please consider joining our community letter opposing any repeal or delay of MERP. This letter only addresses MERP repeal. If you haven’t joined yet, please sign on by 12pm ET on Monday 3/18! We will send the letter up to the Hill that afternoon.

In advance of a potential House Republican “energy week”, we are preparing an updated community letter opposing legislative attempts to repeal or delay implementation of the Methane Emissions Reduction Program (MERP). MERP is a critical program designed to reduce methane pollution from the oil and gas sector and is one of the most efficient ways to address climate change, reduce waste, and protect the health of millions of Americans living near oil and gas sites.

This letter is an update from a version previously sent in July 2023. If your organization is already listed as a signer and you do not want to stay on, please let me know as soon as possible.
