Ambient Air Quality Standards for particulate matter/soot (PM NAAQS):

For some quick background, EPA earlier this year finalized strengthened standards for the PM NAAQS, one of the most sweeping air quality standards in the country. Earthjustice and many partners in a broad coalition of local, state, and
national environmental, EJ, and health organizations have been working for years to secure stronger standards after the Trump administration left outdated standards in place. EPA finalized a new annual soot standard of 9 micrograms/cubic meter, down from the
2015 standard of 12 micrograms/cubic meter.
Changing the annual soot NAAQS standard from 12 to 9 micrograms/cubic meter is expected to:
Unsurprisingly, Republicans are attacking these gains, with Congressional Review Act resolutions already introduced in both the House and Senate chambers—every Republican in the Senate has joined as a cosponsor and we expect the resolution
will be introduced any day now.
