Apologies for cross-posting, but please help us share Tess’ story and raise awareness about the need for President Biden and Secretary Haaland to retain strong protections for 28 million acres of “D-1” public lands in Alaska. Tess is a
fantastic advocate and the video is a great watch!

Subject: [30x30-us] NEW VIDEO: A Day in the Life of Conservation Advocate Tess Hostetter
Good afternoon,
The Center for American Progress has released a new
video featuring
Igiugig Tribal citizen, Tess Hostetter advocating for the conservation of at-risk public lands in Alaska known as “D-1 lands.”
These lands are among the largest intact landscapes left in the country, connecting tens of millions of acres of important habitat that support Alaska Native communities, drive
regional and local economies, and buffer against the alarming impacts of climate change.
They remained protected until January 2021 when the Trump administration attempted to open them to harmful and exploitative industrial extraction, threatening
the unique and important wildlife habitat and the subsistence rights of Alaska Native communities across the state.
Tess came to DC this past spring as part of the
America the Beautiful for All Coalition’s fly-in to meet with public officials
and advocate to conserve these critically important and at-risk lands.
