Let’s be clear: President Biden has taken more climate action than any president in history.

There are 107 days until Election Day. In this moment, it is critical that we lean into Joe Biden’s legacy as the climate president before pivoting to the extreme stakes of this election and Vice President Harris’ climate record.

Climate Power Statement on President Biden's Climate Legacy

Washington, D.C. — In response to President Biden ending his presidential campaign and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, Lori Lodes, Executive Director of Climate Power, released the following statement

"President Biden and his landmark clean energy investments not only saved the American economy—they may well prove to be what saves the world.

"From the moment he took office, President Biden has consistently demonstrated the resolve to act on climate. In his inaugural address, the president identified the need to respond to 'a cry for survival that comes from the planet itself.'

"And he has done it.

"He passed the most ambitious climate plan in history—and did so with a 50-50 Senate. He has taken more than 300 climate, conservation, public health, and clean energy actions—the most of any American president. He initiated the most consequential change to the way Americans produce and consume energy since the start of the Industrial Revolution. That, in turn, is transforming our economy—driving hundreds of billions of dollars of investments, already creating more than 300,000 jobs, lowering energy costs, and bringing manufacturing back to communities across the country.

"Decades from now, we will all remember and credit Joe Biden as the climate president.

"The president has always recognized what it takes to deliver a better future for the country. And today's decision is another example of that same forward-looking leadership. As he has done so often throughout his career, Joe Biden is putting the country first.

"It’s the same kind of patriotism he’ll show as he finishes out his term and continues to deliver for the American people. It’s the same kind of patriotism that animates Vice President Kamala Harris—the next president of the United States."
