Hi all, and Happy Thursday!

ICYMI, our regular "Climate Friday" guidance is now hitting your inboxes on *Thursdays* to give you a little extra time to schedule your posts on social media. So please still post this content on Friday, it's just appearing in your inboxes a little earlier than usual for your convenience. If breaking news arises on a Friday, CAC will still likely put out messaging for you to use, but it won't be under the #ClimateFriday umbrella.

This week, we're expanding upon the social guidance we circulated earlier this week about Tropical Storm Debby to cover both the number of other extreme weather events occurring across the country this week, and the anniversary of the deadly wildfires in Maui a year ago today.

As always, please feel free to tweak the below guidance to your/your organization's voice, but make sure to use #ClimateFriday so we can engage with you!

CAC Climate Friday: A Week in #ExtremeWeatherSZN

Resources

What to Say:

  • A year ago this week, one of the deadliest wildfires in the U.S. in over a century destroyed lives and communities in Lahaina. Climate change has been shown to worsen the impacts of these extreme weather events, underscoring the need to #ActOnClimate. #ClimateFriday

  • One year after the tragic Maui wildfires, the threat of wildfires and other #ExtremeWeatherSZN events have only grown worse. We must continue to slash climate pollution and build resilience against the devastating impacts of climate change. #ClimateFriday

  • As we’ve seen with #Debby and other extreme weather events in VT, OR, CA and elsewhere, climate change has placed communities everywhere at a greater risk of being upended. On #ClimateFriday, let’s #ActOnClimate to prevent #ExtremeWeatherSZN from becoming costlier.

  • From Georgia and South Carolina to California and Oregon, this #ExtremeWeatherSZN is setting records. The evidence is clear: we must #ActOnClimate! #ClimateFriday

Hope everyone has a great, safe weekend!
