Subject: new deadline - Fri, 9/27 COB - NGO Sign on letter re the harmful FLASH Act (deadline Wed, 9/25)

CAUTION: This email is from an external sender. Please use caution when clicking links or opening attachments.

Hello -

We've moved the deadline to join this NGO sign on letter against the Federal Lands Amplified Security for the Homeland ("FLASH Act") to this Friday, September 27th, COB.  Many thanks to the 30+ groups that have already signed on!  If your group hasn't signed on yet, please consider.

Why?  The majority (Rs) on the House Natural Resources Committee decided to postpone the hearing on the FLASH Act that was scheduled for later this week.  No new hearing date has been set, but we know that Congress won't be back in session until after the elections in November.  Either way, we want to send the finalized letter to Congress to educate members about the harms of this bill in case it does re-emerge later this year.

Thank you!

Hello -

As discussed on Friday's border wall coalition call, please find here the NGO sign on letter to Congress to convey our collective concerns regarding HR 9678, the Federal Lands Amplified Security for the Homeland (the “FLASH Act”), a bill offered by Rep Ciscomani (R-AZ) that would have harmful environmental and community impacts on the borderlands, including the requirement of *at least* 584 miles of roads for Border Patrol usage constructed in the vicinity of the border.

Please find the NGO sign on letter text and form to sign on here.

Deadline to sign on: Wednesday, September 25th at 3pmET/12pmPT

Apologies for the tight deadline. We want to circulate this letter to Congress promptly as the House Natural Resources Committee will hold a legislative hearing focusing on the FLASH Act (HR 9678) later this week.

Best,

Jenny
