Hello!
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are excited to share a new video from the Center for American Progress and Los Jardines Institute: Small-Scale Farm Brings Food Justice To Strengthen Communities Across New Mexico’s Food Deserts
In the video, Richard Moore, a trailblazer in the environmental justice movement for nearly 60 years, shares how Los Jardines Institute and other members of the La Cosecha/Agri-Cultura Network farmers’ cooperative are advancing Justice40 implementation in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and beyond to build healthy, sustainable communities.
Thanks to the Biden-Harris administration’s Justice40 Initiative and funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, the Latino-led farmers’ cooperative is planting fruit trees in schools and neighborhoods in Albuquerque, New Mexico, addressing food injustice, creating nurturing green spaces where there are none, and reducing extreme heat risks in the city’s communities.
As we close out Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the essential role of strong Latino leadership and communities in shaping the past, present, and future of the environmental justice movement.
