Dear Colleague,
On President Trump's first day in office, he signed an Executive Order directing the United States to again withdraw from the Paris Agreement. Rep. Schneider, Ranking Member Huffman, and Ranking Member Meeks are introducing a resolution condemning the President's
decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement and urging Congress to prioritize U.S. global leadership on addressing climate change.
This is an updated reintroduction of a similar resolution Rep.
Schneider introduced in 2017, the first time President Trump announced his intention to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Agreement. Sen. Markey is leading a complementary resolution in the Senate. The Climate Action Campaign endorses the resolution.
Now, more than ever, we must address climate change with the seriousness and urgency it demands. This resolution highlights the dire challenges presented by climate change, underscores the historic investments made through laws like the Infrastructure Investment
and Jobs Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act, and urges Congress to prioritize the United States global leadership on addressing climate change.
The deadline to become an original cosponsor of the resolution has been extended to COB Friday, January 24th. The deadline will not be extended past this date.
