Congress is gearing up to pass a spending package that enriches billionaires and perpetuates harm in communities across the country. The fossil fuel industry and its allies are pushing for more carbon capture subsidies, including the expansion of the 45Q tax credit, to further their agenda.

These subsidies are critical to the carbon capture industry’s plans, which include:

• Building over 90,000 miles of dangerous pipelines.
• Promoting speculative projects like "certified gas" to justify LNG exports.
• Supporting other dirty energy schemes under the guise of climate solutions.

A new spending bill is expected in early February, and we need to send a clear message: Communities across the country reject this wasteful climate scam and demand Congress stop funneling billions of taxpayer dollars into subsidies that benefit the oil and gas industry at the expense of our health, safety, and environment.
