A slew of hearings packed into a short week, but at least not many committee or floor votes outside of the probably CR.
House Floor Activity
- The House convenes at noon on Tuesday, with the usual
collection of suspension bills up for votes.
- There are three bills under a rule this week:
- H.R. 2954, on exempting institutions from finance laws;
- H.R. 3326, on withholding funds from the World Bank until certain demands are met; and
- H.R. 4712, on abortion.
- No CR announced yet, but they have until Friday to pass something - so expect some action on that front.
House Committee Activity
- On
Wednesday at 10:30 the Rules subcommittee of Rules will be holding a hearing on earmarks; this will be followed up by a subsequent Thursday 10:30 AM hearing at the full committee.
- On
Thursday at 10 AM the Water subcommittee of Transportation & Infrastructure will be holding a hearing on "America's Water Resources Infrastructure: Approaches to Enhanced Project Delivery."
- On
Thursday at 10:15 AM the Environment subcommittee of Energy & Commerce is holding a hearing on "Modernizing the Superfund Cleanup Program."
- On
Thursday at 2 PM the Energy subcommittee of Natural Resources will be holding a hearing on "Examining the Department of Interior's Actions to Eliminate Onshore Energy Burdens."
- On
Friday at 9 AM the Energy subcommittee of Natural Resources will be holding a hearing on "Deficiencies in the Permitting Process for Offshore Seismic Research."
- On Friday at 9:15 AM the Energy subcommittee of Energy & Commerce will be holding a legislative hearing on several LNG and PURPA-related bills: H.R.
4476,
4605, and
4606.
Senate Floor Activity
- The Senate convenes at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, with a 5:30 PM cloture vote on the House-amended FISA bill (the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act).
- McConnell has already filed an amendment and filled the tree, with final consideration wrapping up later this week.
- The Senate will also need to spend some time considering a CR this week, or else face a government shutdown.

- On
Tuesday at 10 AM the Energy committee will be holding a hearing "to Examine the Domestic and Global Energy Outlook."
- On
Wednesday at 10 AM the Water subcommittee of Energy will be holding a hearing "to Examine the Bureau of Reclamation's Title Transfer Process and Potential Benefits to Federal and Non-Federal Stakeholders."
- On
Wednesday at 10 AM the Environment & Public Works committee will be holding a hearing on "America's Water Infrastructure Needs and Challenges: Federal Panel."
- On
Thursday at 10 AM the Energy committee will be holding a hearing on two Dept. of Energy nominees:
- Melissa F. Burnison for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs
- Anne Marie White for Environmental Management
- On
Thursday at 11 AM the Commerce committee is re-voting on a collection of re-nominees, including Myers for NOAA and Bridenstine for NASA.
