reporter: jeff, last june, pruitt traveled to italy for meetings at the vatican and an energy summit. his roundtrip business-class ticket cost taxpayers at least $7,000. and now we've learned on his return from milab he flew on emirates on one of the world's most luxurious business-class cabins. rules require members to fly u.s. carriers but pruitt got approval to flight foreign carrier, arguing it was the only flight that would get him back in time to attend a cabinet meeting. this entire trip cost more than $43,000 because to make his outbound connection to rome, pruitt flew a chartered military aircraft from cincinnati to new york. a spokesman said due to security concerns, pruitt has a blanket waiver to fly in first or business class. just today, pruitt flew first class from washington to boston, days after a "washington post" story detailed how his travel costs are drawing criticism. jeff. >>
