GreenLatinos Statement in Response to the Senate’s Failed Votes in Support Dreamers

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- GreenLatinos President Mark Magana issued the following statement on today’s failed votes in the Senate in support of Dreamers:

“Today, yet again, President Trump and the majority of Republican Senate Leadership has failed Dreamers, the 800,000 inspiring young adults who are going to school, working, taking care of their families, defending their communities, and contributing to the future of America.

Let us not forget amidst all of this political theatre, that President Trump manufactured this crisis and he continues to prove relentless in his efforts to sabotage any and all bipartisan solutions for Dreamers. His actions are immoral and contradict the very principles we hold dear as Americans.

Although the Senate has failed to ensure a permanent solution for Dreamers, Congressional Republican leadership still has the ability to pass a narrow, bipartisan Dream solution that does not sacrifice the future of Dreamers and their families, destroy our land, or harm border communities. We urge them to step away from the irresponsible “four-pillar” language that cannot lead to a fair outcome for Dreamers.

GreenLatinos remains steadfast in their support of Dreamers and allies and calls on the Trump Administration and Congress to do what the vast majority of Americans support and pass a clean Dream Act now!”
