Message of the Week
March 19, 2018
Since day one as EPA Administrator, Scott Pruitt has spent his time in office attacking our health and doing favors for big polluters - the same polluters who
have funded his campaigns and political activities in the past and possibly will in the future. That's why he’s advocating for extreme budget cuts to his own agency and a pro-polluter agenda that threatens the health of families, communities of color, and
vulnerable populations.
-
This week, Congress is considering President Trump’s Dirty Budget, which would decimate EPA’s ability to protect Americans from climate change and toxic pollution by enforcing existing laws that
protect our health and environment.
-
EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has been dodging Congressional requests for him to appear at oversight hearings. Democrats AND Republicans in Congress are interested in his pricey spending habits
and how those mesh with drastic cuts to EPA’s enforcement and clean-up budget. Pruitt has spent more than $100,000 on pricey luxury travel and $43,000 on a private phone booth in his office while advocating steep reduction in EPA’s enforcement office.
-
The EPA’s mission is to protect our health and environment, and that includes enforcing our nation’s federal environmental and public health protections like the Clean Air Act. But by slashing the
EPA’s budget to the bone, Scott Pruitt would rather prioritize deep pocketed polluters’ dirty agenda before protecting our health and environment.
-
America’s EPA administrator must be a champion for public health and the environment and a good steward of taxpayer resources. Scott Pruitt should be looking out for those communities and vulnerable
people most impacted by pollution; not kowtowing to the dirty energy industries the agency was created to oversee.
-
Our families, our economy, and our communities need a strong EPA and need Scott Pruitt to do his job of protecting our health and environment.
