Hi all, please find below and attached talking points and social for the segment that just ran at 7pm on Fox News, as well as for Ed Henry’s full interview of Scott Pruitt.
CAC Talking Points – Fox News calls out Pruitt on mounting scandals
-
Tonight, Fox News correspondent Ed Henry didn’t let EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt get away with his multiple attempts to change his story and dodge responsibility for his mounting corruption scandals.
-
Throughout Henry’s interview, Pruitt refused to take responsibility for his unethical dealings or his shocking decision to defy the White House by giving two of his favored political appointees more than $80 thousand
in raises. Pruitt even denied knowledge of the pay raises and attempted to throw EPA staff under the bus for following his orders.
-
Pruitt also tried to defend his sweetheart deal with a dirty energy lobbyist and longtime campaign donor to live in a luxury condo in D.C. for $50 a night – a fraction of the market value. Pruitt justifies the
cut-rate condo kickback by saying it was approved by EPA ethics lawyers. Henry rightfully points out the ethics review didn’t happen until a year after Pruitt signed the lease and was not cleared beforehand.
-
Despite Henry asking Pruitt a full ten times to take responsibility for his own actions, Pruitt as many times refused, instead throwing EPA staff under the bus in an attempt to save his own career.
-
For Pruitt, his numerous scandals involving staff pay raises, sweetheart condo rent deals, first class airfare, and abuse of taxpayer funds aren’t his fault - it’s his staff’s fault, his security detail’s fault,
even the fault of “critics on the left”.
-
But the media or his haters didn’t sign his sweetheart lease for him. They didn’t go around the president to award pay raises to his staff. They didn’t buy first class air tickets on the taxpayer dime. They didn’t
build a secret phone booth in his office to the tune of $43K, and they didn’t insult Donald Trump by calling him a threat to the Constitution.
-
With his record of undermining public health and the environment and his unwillingness to accept responsibility for his corruption, it’s clear it’s time to boot Pruitt.
TPs ON FULL VIDEO
- Fox News just released the full video
of correspondent Ed Henry’s interview with EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt. It’s must watch TV, especially if you care about rooting out corruption and protecting health and clean air, land and water.
- In this interview, Pruitt repeatedly refused to accept any responsibility for his numerous scandals. And they are numerous: supersized pay raises
to longtime friends, sweetheart condo rent deals, first class airfare and abuse of taxpayer funds. On each, Pruitt claims it’s not his fault; it’s his staff’s fault, his security detail’s fault. It’s even the fault of “critics on the left.”
- Problem is, other people didn’t make those decisions to fly first class or to ignore the president to pad his staff’s salaries. He did. He’s responsible,
even if he won’t admit it.
- With his record of undermining public health and the environment and his unwillingness to accept responsibility for his ethics scandals, it clear
that it’s time to boot Pruitt.

Hi everyone, please find below quick TPs and social for the additional segment that aired a few minutes ago on Fox.
-
Even Fox News calling out Scott Pruitt for ever growing list of scandals, including a sweetheart lobbyist condo deal and unauthorized raises for close aides.
-
In his interview with Fox News national correspondent Ed Henry, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt tried to deny he got a sweetheart condo deal, in which he rented a luxury D.C. condo from an energy lobbyist and longtime campaign donor for below market rate.
-
Fox News Correspondent Ed Henry pointedly asked Pruitt if renting a condo from lobbyists was “draining the swamp.” Pruitt stuttered in protest.
-
When asked if the president is ok with Pruitt’s sweetheart deal, White House press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said “He’s not.”
-
The story also highlighted calls from Florida GOP Members of Congress Carlos Curbelo and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen that Pruitt resign.
-
Pruitt wants to blame others. Yet, nobody else signed his sweetheart lease for him, ignored White House opposition to raises for his personal staff, bought first class air tickets on the taxpayer dime, built a secret phone booth in his office to the tune of
$43K, or insulted Donald Trump by calling him a threat to the Constitution. Pruitt did.

Hi all, please find below and attached talking points and social on Pruitt’s appearance on Fox News this afternoon.
CAC Talking Points – Fox News calls out Pruitt on mounting scandals
-
In an interview on Fox News, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt was called out for the various emerging scandals plaguing him and dogging his management of the agency.
-
Throughout the interview, Pruitt refused to take responsibility for his unethical dealings and his shocking decision to defy the White House by giving two of his favored political appointees more than $80 thousand in raises. Pruitt even denied
knowledge of the pay raises and attempted to pass responsibility for the action to his staff.
-
Pruitt also tried to defend his sweetheart deal with a dirty energy lobbyist and longtime campaign donor to live in a luxury condo in D.C. for $50 a night – a fraction of the market value. Pruitt justifies the cut-rate condo kickback by saying
it was approved by EPA ethics lawyers. Fox News correspondent Ed Henry rightfully points out the ethics review didn’t happen until a year after Pruitt signed the lease and was not cleared beforehand.
-
Pruitt has spent the last few days complaining that critics haven’t seen the lease he signed with a lobbyist power couple to stay at their Capitol Hill condo at below-market rates.
- Solution? Scott Pruitt should release the lease. Let everyone see the details of this cozy deal. Then the American people can finally know if their EPA administrator broke the law.
- But Pruitt won’t release the lease because per usual, he has something to hide. Instead, he’s making excuses and throwing EPA staff under the bus for following his orders.
- Pruitt isn’t taking responsibility for his own unethical actions. He’s blaming detractors for his epic spree of bad press. But, the media and his distractors didn’t sign his sweetheart lease
for him. They didn’t ignore the White House to award pay raises to his staff. They didn’t buy first class air tickets on the taxpayer dime. They didn’t build a secret phone booth in his office to the tune of $43K, and they didn’t insult Donald Trump by calling
him a threat to the Constitution.
- Scott Pruitt did all of that. And it’s time he’s held accountable.
