Subject: Peter Wright - EPA Office of Land & Emergency Management Nominee - Opposition Letter

Hey everyone,

Trump has nominated Peter Wright – Dow Chemical’s managing attorney – to head the EPA Office of Land & Emergency Management. In this role he would oversee Superfund, but also the Chemical Disaster Rule - Clean Air Act updates to EPA’s Risk Management Plan intended to help prevent disasters like the fertilizer plant explosion in West, TX and the Arkema chemical plant explosion after Hurricane Harvey.

No big surprise that Trump would nominate a fox to guard the henhouse, and the politics to defeat him look very uphill, but we think it’s important to clearly define Mr. Wright in the nomination process and arm our champs with information and background needed for them to provide oversight down the road.

Please consider signing, feel free to share with other partners and listservs, and let me know if you have any thoughts or questions. I don’t have any solid intel on when his hearing will be held, but presumably in the near(ish) future. Let’s set a tentative deadline for signing of next Wednesday the 2^nd at COB. We can adjust if needed. And this would be organizational sign-ons, not CEOs.
