STATEMENT: Pruitt Was Symbol of Trump Administration’s Corruption, CAP’s Christy Goldfuss Says
Washington, D.C. – After the announcement that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has resigned,
Christy Goldfuss, senior vice president for Energy and Environment Policy at the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:
“Scott Pruitt was the most scandal-plagued Cabinet member in an administration rife with corruption. It is telling that President Trump let Pruitt stay in his post despite at least 18 federal
investigations into blatant fraud, waste, and abuse. These investigations must be allowed to continue so the public can understand the full depth of this corruption.
Pruitt hand-picked Andrew Wheeler, the former coal lobbyist, to carry out his unethical agenda. There is no reason to believe that Wheeler will fix the problems left behind and put children’s
health ahead of his industry friends.”
