Tom Steyer Statement on the Resignation of EPA Chief Scott Pruitt

In response to the resignation of the Environmental Protection Agency Chief Scott Pruitt, Tom Steyer issued the following statement:

“Outrage from the American people are what just got rid of Scott Pruitt. Whether we are marching for women’s equality, rallying for gun safety, or demanding that the US government stop locking up immigrant children, the voice of the American people is still the most powerful force in our democracy. When we raise our voices and take action, we are stronger than the people in power.

"Of course, his acting replacement couldn’t be worse: a coal lobbyist with ties to the most famous climate denier in the country. We must ensure that Andrew Wheeler is met with the same anger and effective organization that led to Pruitt’s resignation. Until we replace every last Republican in November, there will be no business as usual for those who seek to undermine our democracy and destroy our clean air and water. If we want a just and democratic future, we must elect progressives in 2018 who care more about the voices of the people than the profits of corporations.”
